What SplitRover is

SplitRover™ is a simple trip expense tracker for groups. You create a trip, share a link with your travel companions, and everyone can add expenses, record transfers, and see who owes what.

There are no accounts, passwords, or sign-in steps. Access is based on the trip link you share.

What we collect

When you use SplitRover™, we store trip-related information such as:

• Trip names
• Participant names
• Expense details (amounts, dates, who paid, and how costs are split)
• Transfer details between participants
• Currency settings
• Optional notes you choose to add

Browser data on your device

SplitRover™ may save a list of trips you have opened in your browser’s local storage so you can return to them more easily. This stays on your device and is not an account profile.

What we do not collect

• Passwords or login credentials (we do not offer accounts)
• Bank account numbers, card numbers, or payment app credentials
• Government ID or other highly sensitive personal identifiers

How trip links work

Each trip has a shareable link. Anyone who has that link can open the trip, view its contents, and make changes unless you stop sharing the link with them.

Trip links are meant for people you trust in your group. If you post a link publicly or send it to the wrong person, they may be able to access or edit the trip.

How we use your data

We use trip data only to run the service: tracking expenses, calculating balances, and showing recommended transfers.

We do not sell your personal data.

Search and indexing

Trip pages are configured not to be indexed by search engines. This marketing site and these policy pages are public.

Even with noindex settings, you should still treat trip links as sensitive and share them only with people in your group.

Data retention

Trips are kept while the service is running. We do not currently have an automatic deletion schedule.

Retention rules may change as the product evolves. If that happens, we will update this page.

Your responsibility

Do not enter highly sensitive information into trip notes or participant names. SplitRover™ is for coordinating shared trip costs, not for storing confidential financial records.

You are responsible for deciding what information is appropriate to put in a shared trip.
